During the Sept. 9 meeting, Associate Superintendent of Human Resources Dr. Marti Tienda-Ayala presented Mr. James Lee as the district's 2025–2026 Teacher of the Year and Ms. Olivia Morquecho as the 2025–2026 CSEA Classified Employee of the Year. Dr. Tienda-Ayala described Mr. Lee as "a remarkable music educator whose enthusiasm for the arts has motivated and influenced many students," and noted Ms. Morquecho's role as an attendance clerk who is recognized for professionalism and kindness.
The Board recessed briefly for cake and refreshments to celebrate the awardees; the meeting resumed at 6:28 PM. Trustees offered congratulatory remarks and highlighted strong family attendance at recent Back-to-School Nights.
