A series of residents told council they opposed siting a proposed maintenance/garage facility in a residential neighborhood, citing health vulnerabilities, diesel exposure, and property‑value damage. Commenters described chronic health issues in their households — including a double lung transplant and ongoing cancer treatment — and asked the city to reconsider the proposed location and explore alternatives.
Kaye Ron, who said she has lived in Fieldview Park for nearly 40 years, described her husband's double‑lung transplant and pleaded with council: "he had his double lung transplant in Pittsburgh because they would not have any lungs in Ohio." Neighbors asked why decisions were repeatedly advanced on emergency readings and urged the city to pursue alternative sites; one resident suggested the vacant former Ganley garage across Dan's Corners as a less intrusive option.
Council members acknowledged the comments and staff earlier described environmental and traffic studies under way for the Mastic Road property; staff said some studies (phase‑1 ESA and geotechnical borings) are under way and that wetlands assessments would be a separate scope. Council asked staff to verify wetland status and provide timelines for findings.
