PDC finds multiple 2024 candidates violated reporting rules, fines imposed

The Washington Public Disclosure Commission held brief adjudicative proceedings and found that several 2024 candidates failed to file required Receipts and Expenditures (C-4) reports, a staff overview said. "So today's brief adjudicative proceeding concerns 2024 candidates whom PDC staff alleged to violate RCW 42.17A.235 and RCW 42.17A.240," Jordan Campbell told the commission.
Commission Chair Jay Leach said the evidence established violations in multiple cases. The commission imposed $150 fines in several matters and reduced fines to $125 for two candidates who filed the missing reports before the hearing. Leach noted one respondent would have part of a $150 penalty suspended if he filed the missing report and paid the reduced amount within a set period.
The proceeding addressed particular alleged violations under state statutes requiring timely disclosure of campaign expenditures. Staff told the commission some cases had already been resolved through a Statement of Understanding (SOU), payment of penalties, or administrative resolution; a list of cases was appended to the staff packet. No members of the public spoke during the session, and the commission adjourned after concluding the calendar.
