Theodore Jackson, a 2024 candidate for Mason County commissioner, acknowledged at the Public Disclosure Commission hearing that he failed to timely file three mandatory C4 reports and told commissioners he entered $874 in campaign reporting the night before the hearing.
Jackson said he accepted responsibility for the lapse and described family issues and email-account problems that diverted his attention; he noted he is a retired police chief and that some campaign emails were still directed to an old account. "I am at fault," Jackson said. He asked staff to confirm the filings and said he is willing to accept whatever fine the commission imposes.
Commissioners said they would follow staff's verification and indicated a lenient resolution similar to other cases: the chair proposed a $250 penalty with $150 suspended, effectively $100 to be paid if required corrections are completed within 30 days. PDC staff told Jackson they would check whether he submitted and certified reports or merely entered data without completing the certification step and would coach him through any required corrections.
The commission closed the Jackson matter after directing staff to confirm the reports and to work with the candidate.
