Engineer: A&J low bidder at $840,775 for 2026 concrete program; Ridgebury work begins

On the 2026 Concrete Program, bids were opened last Thursday and the low bidder was A&J Cement Contractors at $840,775 — roughly $35,000 below the engineer's estimate. Mader said he is awaiting county confirmation on possible 100% reimbursement for the Kenbridge sewer project and hopes to have that project ready for bid by the end of the month. He also said retention basin inspections will be conducted citywide over the next two to three months and advised residents to contact his office before repairing damaged sprinkler systems so crews can inspect alleged contractor damage.
