Trustees elect Dr. Natalia Barajas as board president; officers reshuffled

At its Dec. 9 meeting the South Whittier School District Board elected Dr. Natalia Barajas as board president, named Elias Alvarado vice president and Sylvia V. Macias clerk; Superintendent Dr. Gary Gonzales was elected board secretary. All motions passed unanimously.
Dr. Natalia Barajas was elected president of the South Whittier School District Board of Trustees during the board's reorganization at its Dec. 9, 2025 regular meeting. The motion to elect Barajas was made by Trustee Sylvia V. Macias and seconded by Trustee Elizabeth Guillen; the motion carried with a 5–0 vote.
Trustees also elected Elias Alvarado as vice president and Sylvia V. Macias as clerk. In keeping with district custom, the board voted to elect Superintendent Dr. Gary Gonzales as board secretary. The meeting record shows each of the officer elections passed unanimously (Yes: Jan Baird; Dr. Natalia Barajas; Elias Alvarado; Sylvia Macias; Elizabeth Guillen).
