The DeWitt County Finance Committee on Aug. 18 voted to create a full‑time IT technician position and to budget $60,000 for FY26. Pat Ryan, chair of the Compliance/IT ad hoc committee, presented a draft job description and said the ad hoc committee recommended adding the role to next year’s budget.
Ryan told the committee that Kerry Loveless of Heart Technoligies indicated the vendor would assist with the interviewing process and recommend training and certifications. The minutes state, “The $60,000 is for budgetary purposes.” The job description in the meeting packet lists typical county IT duties including first‑ and second‑level support, Active Directory and Office 365 administration, supporting network infrastructure and meeting AV setups, and assisting with annual IT budgeting.
Committee members discussed timing and recruitment strategy; the ad hoc committee plans to advertise the role in December or January to align hiring with college graduations and recommended a pay range consistent with regional public‑sector IT positions. The committee carried the motion to create the position (motion by Claro Carter, second by Megan Myers) by voice vote.
