Peekskill police announce multi‑agency drug raid, seven arrested

The chief of police announced to the Common Council that a months‑long investigation sparked by downtown quality‑of‑life complaints culminated in a multi‑agency operation early that morning.

“This investigation was started because of quality‑of‑life issues in the downtown area,” the chief said, and described an operation conducted with the FBI, Westchester County and multiple local departments that executed eight search warrants across Westchester and New Jersey, arrested seven people named by the department and seized firearms, roughly $91,000 in cash and substantial quantities of narcotics, including crack, methamphetamine and a kilogram‑level cocaine/crack seizure. The chief said inquiries are being referred to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York and that the department expected to issue a public release the following day.

Deputy Mayor and council members thanked the department and emphasized the connection between the city’s quality‑of‑life initiative and the investigation, noting that routine patrols and targeted efforts produced leads the department shared with federal partners. The chief said the work will continue and credited local patrols and code‑enforcement work as contributing to the case.
