City Manager asks Peekskill council to endorse MTA FRA grant application for Croton-Harmon–Poughkeepsie signal replacement

City Manager Matt presented a letter from the Metropolitan Transportation Authority asking the council to adopt a resolution supporting the MTA’s application to the Federal Railroad Administration’s Federal-State Partnership for Intercity Passenger Rail program. The application seeks funding for the Croton-Harmon to Poughkeepsie signal-replacement Phase 2 project, which Matt described as covering about 43 miles of track and important for Westchester service to New York City.
Matt urged the council to adopt a short resolution of support that night and said staff will follow up on the status of nearby crossing upgrades at a future meeting. "It is a significant investment in Westchester service to New York City," Matt said. A council member asked for an update on prior crossing-upgrade work, and the city manager said he would provide an update at the next meeting.
