Council signs off on holiday street closures, reindeer run and fireworks contract

The Common Council approved a slate of event and safety resolutions for the holiday season.
Council adopted a resolution authorizing street closures at key downtown intersections between 10 a.m. and 9 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7 for the annual holiday tree lighting and related events. "This resolution requests street closures at the intersection of Park Street and Bank Street ... between the hours of 10AM and 9PM on Saturday, 12/07/2024 for the annual holiday tree lighting," council members were told. The council also approved street closures for the reindeer run and a separate resolution authorizing the city manager to enter into an agreement with Garden State Fireworks Inc. for a New Year's Eve fireworks display on Dec. 31, 2024.
The measures passed without recorded opposition; staff will coordinate traffic and safety details with DPW and police in advance of the events.
