"We are also restricting the use and sale of cannabis within 500 feet of a public youth facility," the official said during the hearing. The measure was referred to the planning commission for a report during the hearing and later adopted by the council as Local Law 6.
No members of the public addressed the hearing. Council members voted to carry the local law forward during the regular agenda, and staff said the amendment is intended to reduce conflicts between cannabis businesses and youth-serving sites.
