Chief Deputy Assessor Linda Gallegos questioned a line-item discrepancy in the property valuation fund, noting the contract and other services line she budgeted at $197,445 appeared in the budget packet as $267,589. "I had budgeted $197,445, and the budget came through at $267,589," Gallegos said and asked whether the increase was a mathematical error.
Deputy County Manager Misty Witt responded that the difference represented the beginning fund balance that carries forward in the special (610) fund from prior years and therefore remains with the fund rather than returning to the General Fund. Commissioners and department heads discussed greater transparency and earlier distribution of budget priorities so departments can align requests with county goals; the Commission indicated a more structured pre-budget presentation will be provided going forward.
