County Clerk Sylvia Chavez asked commissioners to approve Resolution No. 2025-21 to raise the county marriage-license fee from $25 to $55. Chavez said the increase was the result of legislation approved at the state level and had been sought by the Clerk's affiliate for multiple sessions.
"We've now been able to raise it up to $55... $20 that always goes into the children's fund... $15 will be going straight to the Clerk's Equipment Fund," Chavez said, noting the additional revenue will help the Clerk's Office pay for equipment and reduce prior dependence on the general fund. The board approved Resolution 2025-21 by roll-call vote.
