Following a closed session for personnel interviews, the Cumberland County Board of Supervisors adopted a Certification of a Closed Meeting in accordance with the Virginia Freedom of Information Act and § 2.2-3712 of the Code of Virginia. The certification states, in part, that only matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements were discussed and that the board heard only the topics identified in the motion to convene the closed session.
The certification was presented to the board after members reconvened to open session; the recorded motion and certification language appear in the public record. The board's public minutes state explicitly that "no action was taken in closed session."
