Board approves routine contracts: internships, vendor agreements, Chromebooks and bus cameras

The Parkland School District board approved a slate of committee-recommended agreements and contract awards during the business meeting portion of the workshop.
Miss Wilcox presented a 5-year affiliation agreement with Lehigh University for graduate school-psychology interns; "the school district shall pay a $6,000 stipend for each intern," she said. The board also approved a tuition contract with Meridian Academy for emotional-support services, a multi-year exclusive yearbook agreement with Jostens, and multiple athletics/overnight-trip approvals.
On the Facilities side, Mr. Hein sought retroactive approval for an urgently priced Chromebook purchase after vendor pricing changes; "The total cost of the Chromebooks is $429,940," he said, and the board approved the expenditure by voice vote. The board also approved camera equipment for nine buses ($23,254.95), two 9-passenger vans ($122,812), annual roof maintenance (~$101,856.64) and wet-insulation replacement (~$376,418.95), with funding primarily from the Capital Projects Fund or grant sources where noted.
