Peekskill schedules tree lighting Dec. 7, confirms street closure and reindeer run route

City staff presented final plans for the annual holiday tree lighting and related events, asking the council to concur with a street closure and event schedule.
The tree lighting is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 7 at 4 p.m.; staff said the street closure would run from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and that WHUD’s Casey Morabito is expected to serve as MC. Staff noted the reindeer run is on the same day with an adjusted route so it will not conflict with the tree-lighting footprint.
Council members confirmed routing changes and police involvement for crowd control. Staff said they would provide a resolution next week including the street-closure details and event outline so the council can ratify the permit and closure formally.
