Principal Shawn Collins presented G.R.I.T. awards and described a school-wide assembly to reinforce RISE expectations. "We ended it with a human slot machine where 10 students were randomly selected to participate and win prizes. The kids had a blast!" Collins also reported that boys basketball season is wrapping up with the state series impending, and that cheerleading plans to compete at the State Competition in Peoria on Feb. 12.
Collins said volleyball and wrestling are underway, Scholastic Bowl will start soon, and the 5th-8th grade spelling bee is scheduled for the next day. He noted the 100th Day of School is one week from Jan. 23 and that staff received a survey to assess interest in hosting a summer camp after a year off. School Improvement Day programming for Feb. 14 will include a parent event on healthy habits and navigating Google Classroom and TeacherEase.
