Marseilles ESD 150 board approves routine items, hears student-program updates

The Marseilles Elementary School District #150 Board of Education met on Jan. 23, 2025, and approved its consent agenda, including minutes, financial reports and routine disbursements. President Jim Barnes presided and the motion to approve the consent agenda was moved by Cherise Byone and seconded by Julie Morey; the vote was unanimous.
Superintendent Brenda Donahue and district staff were present for updates from Principal Shawn Collins and the Marseilles Education Association. Collins presented G.R.I.T. awards and described several upcoming student activities, and Treasurer Craig Hepner delivered the district's December financial report showing operating cash and revenue performance. The board also approved a paraprofessional hire, accepted an intent to retire from a third-grade teacher, approved the first reading of a residency policy update, raised the mileage reimbursement rate and approved two professional service agreements. The meeting adjourned at approximately 7:23 p.m.
