DeWitt County Board tables Triple Black Diamond Solar decision, reconvenes and approves the project

The DeWitt County Board delayed a final vote on Aug. 20 on a siting permit for the Triple Black Diamond Solar project after multiple board members requested more time to review application materials.
Chairman Witte opened the hearing and reminded attendees that "public comments are not evidence." The initial motion to approve the siting permit (moved by Ferguson, seconded by Tilley) was followed by a motion to table (moved by Ryan, seconded by Myers). The motion to table carried on Aug. 20 with seven ayes and three dissenting votes.
Board members reconvened Sept. 3 to consider the pending approval motion. After discussion about the pace and volume of recent siting applications, the Board voted to approve the permit. The approval vote was recorded as: Aye — Witte, Ferguson, Hammer, Prestegaard, Tilley, Walters; Nay — Carter, Ryan; Abstain — Werts.
The permit covers a proposed commercial solar facility of approximately 2,125 acres with an associated battery storage system and lists multiple parcel numbers included in the application. The Board scheduled no additional conditions in the public record beyond those discussed during the hearing.
The next procedural step will be implementation of the permit conditions and ongoing coordination with local jurisdictions noted during the hearing.
