Council president seeks follow‑up on employee premium‑share data called for in Resolution 25‑21

Council President Dan Rospert told staff that Resolution 25-21, passed Dec. 16, 2025, requested information about how other communities and employers share health‑insurance premium costs and that the Council expected a report by April 1. Rospert said the Council wants clarity on the percentage of premium employees have historically paid, so the body can evaluate options when new premium rates arrive.
Service Director Matt Hiscock said Director McCullough and administration staff are collecting comparable data from similarly situated communities but noted that insurers often require extensive claims history before issuing new premium numbers. "Most insurers would take 10 months of claims data before they even introduced new premium numbers to them," Hiscock said. Staff indicated some peer responses had arrived and that the administration will provide what it can to Council when available.
