CityLink reports 6,700 homes ready for service; buildout budget rises above original estimate

Assistant Service Director Mike Testa told the Public Service Committee the municipal CityLink broadband buildout has reached several milestones. "Approximately 6,700 homes were now ready for service. Almost 2,100 homes were now installed with fiber; almost 1,100 homes now had streaming TV installed. About 500 drop connections were now completed," Testa said, listing recent lateral and splicing locations.
Testa said installers use door hangers and outbound calls to notify neighborhoods when service is ready; field staff aim to schedule 150–200 installation calls per week. He also said the original project budget was about $10,000,000 but the estimate has increased as new developments not originally on the docket were added, extending buildout and cost.
