Parkland presents PDE comprehensive plan with math and mental‑health targets

"By the end of 27 28, we're going to be increasing the percentage of students in grade 6 to 8 who score proficient or above on the math PSSA by 6% from that baseline," Doctor Manati said, describing a two‑year phasing (2% year one, 4% year two) and an action plan focused on MTSS, targeted instruction and teacher professional development.
On mental‑health supports, administrators said the district will expand the Student Assistance Program (SAP) at the secondary level and work with an external provider to deliver master's‑level clinicians. Doctor Carlson said referrals are currently teacher‑driven, and the team agreed improved parent communication and referral-awareness will be a focus as the plan moves to public inspection from Feb. 18 to Mar. 18; the board hopes to vote on adoption on Mar. 18.
