Commissioner Dan Cothren noted the Board of Natural Resources approved timber sales the previous day, but cautioned the sales are likely to face litigation from environmental groups that could delay harvest timing. The minutes record the county budget had anticipated $500,000 in investment interest for 2026 but that declining interest rates may reduce actual earnings; the Current Expense Fund also carries a $175,000 loan from 2025.
