Sheridan County Clerk Eda Schunk Thompson asked the Board of County Commissioners on May 5 to move a polling place after the previously used site was sold and began remodeling. Thompson said her office vetted alternatives and chose The Rock Church on Big Horn Avenue, citing accessibility and security reasons. "[The Rock Church was chosen] primarily because of their parking, ADA compliance, and security features," she said.
Commissioner Lonnie J. Wright moved to adopt Resolution 26-05-044 to change the polling location for the primary and general elections; the motion passed unanimously. Thompson told the board that local party officials and voters had been notified and that no objections had been received as of the meeting.
The item also prompted brief discussion about ensuring the new site meets statutory requirements for precinct locations and voter notice. The board recorded a formal vote to adopt the resolution, authorizing the chair to sign the paperwork required to effect the change.
