Carbon Lehigh IU reports dissolution of PAIUNet and early-intervention reach of 2,711 students

Mrs. Wilcox presented the Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit report, summarizing October and November IU meetings and several operational items.
She said IU leadership voted to dissolve PAIUNet, a statewide fiber network that connects the 17 intermediate units, because more cost-effective options became available. Mrs. Wilcox also highlighted early-intervention programming: "They are talked about how they have 3 different centers, plus some satellite locations and have 300 itinerant sites... So those 300 itinerant sites are where their speech and language or their occupational therapists or physical therapists go out and visit local preschools... So they serviced last year during the 2324 school year, they serviced 2,711 students, through that early intervention program."
Mrs. Wilcox noted IU budget approvals, policy matters and an ongoing raffle to raise funds for the Carbon Lehigh Special Needs Children's Foundation; raffle tickets are $1 each or six for $5, and the funds support family requests for food, clothing and other needs.
