Board approves musical licenses, student-assistance addendum and several overnight trips

At its Nov. 19 meeting the Parkland School District board approved committee recommendations to secure performance licenses, expand student assistance services and greenlight several overnight student trips.
Mrs. Wilcox presented the academics/arts/athletics committee recommendations, asking the board to "approve and authorize the board president to sign the attached musical performance agreement from Concord Theatricals to secure licenses for the middle-school spring musicals." The motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
The committee also recommended an addendum to the district's agreement with Mid Atlantic Rehabilitation Services (Mars ATAP) to expand services provided under the student assistance program; the board approved authorizing the board president to sign the addendum. Mrs. Wilcox said the addendum builds on an agreement originally approved June 30, 2023.
Finally, the board approved three overnight trips recommended by the committee: the PHS International Thespian Society to Westchester University in January 2025, a Political Science Club trip to a United Nations conference in Philadelphia in January 2025, and a PMEA district chorus event at Twin Valley High School in February 2025.
