Architects working on Parkland School District’s Vision 2030 high‑school project presented schematic designs and a multi‑year schedule to the board on Sept. 17.
Jamie Bortz, a senior project manager with the architects introduced to the board, said design development is due at the end of the month and construction documents are targeted for May 2025. “Then we will proceed through to the bidding process in September 2025, wrapping that up in February ’26,” Bortz said. The team described an overall project completion date of July 2027 so the school would be ready for the 2027–28 school year.
The presentation showed additions that fill the ‘pie wedge’ areas between existing wings, a possible parking lot expansion and an athletics lobby alternate. Program counts presented to the board included 12 science labs and 28 general classrooms in the new addition and a cafeteria expansion that would add roughly 200 seats to accommodate up to about 1,000 students per lunch cycle. The architects also described interior moves — new small‑group instruction rooms, a makerspace and a cosmetic renovation of the library — that are part of the schematic package.
District administration said the next steps include a design development package and community meetings ahead of an Act 34 public hearing expected next winter. The board will receive updated cost estimates and documented design development before any final approvals.
Provenance: Presentation begins with the project introduction and schedule and ends with the administrative next steps and community engagement plans.
