Wahkiakum schedules bids for roadside mowing; county to handle first mowing in-house

Public Works Director Chuck Beyer told the Wahkiakum County Board of Commissioners that the county will perform the first roadside mowing(s) in-house this year by leasing a boom mower to address brush and will contract out only the last two mowings. The Board voted unanimously to call for bids for 2026 roadside mowing services; bids will be opened April 7, 2026.
Beyer said this arrangement is intended to reduce contractor costs and allow the Road Department to address additional brush with the boom mower. The call for bids was moved by Commissioner Lee Tischer, seconded by Commissioner Mark Letham, and recorded as unanimously approved in the minutes.
