El Monte Union says it will not allow ICE administrative orders inside schools, will consult lawyers on judicial warrants

El Monte Union High School District officials told parents attending the workshop that the district has adopted a resolution to protect students and will not allow ICE administrative orders to be used to enter school buildings. "Si llega un agente con una orden administrativo no vamos a dejar que entren a la escuela," a district official said during the Q&A, adding that if federal agents present a judicial order signed by a judge the district is obligated to comply and will consult with its legal team and the superintendent.
District representatives said staff have been trained on how to handle requests from federal agents: personnel will take identifying information, contact the district office and legal counsel, and, if an order is purely administrative, deny entry. The district also committed to making guardianship and emergency-contact forms available at school sites and on its website so parents can prepare in advance.
