Quay County Road Supervisor Quade Fury told commissioners Sept. 22 that he will solicit bids from three contractors to repair the Quay Road AF creek crossing and that an engineering inspection is required before the county accepts a temporary resident-proposed repair.
Fury said contractors expect the creek to be dry enough for work in October or November and that he will meet resident Phillip Box about a short-term fix until permanent repairs can begin. During the public-comment portion of the meeting, Box and several residents offered materials and assistance; Commissioner Dallas Dowell said the county engineer must review any work to avoid liability.
The board also approved a First Amendment to the Local Government Road Fund Cooperative Agreement with NMDOT (Contract D20316/1), a change that extends the agreement term and allows the county to proceed with the project under the state's road-fund program. No contract award was taken at the meeting โ Fury said bids will be solicited and returned to the board for formal award once received.
