Escondido Union board sets draft 2026 meeting dates, plans formal adoption next month

"So I'm gonna propose that we move the we set the December meeting to December 15," district staff said in the discussion, explaining that the reorganization meeting must occur between Dec. 11 and Dec. 26 and that the first interim must be adopted on or before Dec. 15. Board members debated scheduling alternatives for October and January and agreed to move October 15 to October 22 and to shift January's meeting to Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2026. Staff said they will bring the finalized calendar back for formal adoption at the next board meeting.
Board members framed the changes as predictable adjustments rather than substantive policy shifts. "We're talking about 12/15/2026," a staff member clarified during the exchange. The board asked staff to return a formal action item that will record the final calendar dates for 2026.
