CFT: $10,000 grant and 5,000 books delivered to Cincinnati students; union warns of funding uncertainty

Dr. Winona Oliver, special education liaison for the Cincinnati Federation of Teachers, told the board that CFT partnered with a local "A Day of Blessing" event and used a $10,000 grant from the American Federation of Teachers plus support from 1st Book to secure roughly 5,000 new books for children ages 4–18.
"Through a $10,000 grant from the American Federation of Teachers and the generosity of 1st Book, CFT secured approximately 5,000 new books of various titles for children ages 4 through 18," Oliver said, saying that last year the event supported around 1,200 children with backpacks and essential supplies. Oliver framed the distribution as part of CFT's effort to support literacy while Cincinnati Public Schools faces continued financial uncertainty and state-level cuts.
