Hennepin County proposes $829,905 in Environmental Response Fund grants for contaminated‑site cleanup

Mary Finch of the Environment and Energy Department presented Item 2C, requesting authorization to award ERF grants totaling $829,905 to fund assessment and cleanup of contaminated sites that pose threats to human health or the environment. Finch described the RFP process, the review committee and the types of work the ERF will fund, saying the grants support asbestos, lead and soil contamination assessment and cleanup and contaminated vapor assessment and mitigation.
Finch named the projects recommended for funding: the American Boulevard Senior Living Project in Bloomington; the Native American Community Clinic and Housing and the Passage Community Housing Projects in Minneapolis; and a countywide Minnesota Brownfields GAP financing program. She said the grants were selected from five applications reviewed by a multi‑department committee. "The resolution before you requests authorization to award for Environmental Response fund grants totaling $829,905," Finch said. The board approved the item with no recorded opposition in the transcript.
