Volunteers, recreation department to host free Piedmont Adult Recreation Expo Nov. 17

A Piedmont volunteer team announced a free Adult Recreation Expo that will take place Sunday, Nov. 17, from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Piedmont Veterans Memorial Building. The event, organized by volunteers and supported by the Piedmont Recreation Department, the Piedmont Adult School and the Piedmont Center for the Arts, will feature 28 activity tables where attendees can learn about programs and sign up.
The speaker identified themselves as **** Carter (Bridal Avenue, Piedmont) and named financial or in-kind supporters including Jim Gardner Construction, the Bonson Isaacs Group and Edith Lee Designs. Carter invited council members and residents to attend and said the expo grew out of a 2015 report that recommended an event to increase awareness of adult and older-adult recreation opportunities. "The expo is that event," the speaker said.
The announcement was made during the public forum portion of the council meeting; no council action was needed. The Recreation Department and volunteers will run the expo; admission is free.
