Ariel (S13) explained that Panorama survey results show gains in supportive relationships across many student subgroups and that the district is administering DIBELS K–5 and piloting MAP Growth at secondary levels. He described an ELA adoption process with final release and training days through December and a board recommendation planned for May 2025; pilot implementation would begin in fall 2025.
On dual enrollment, staff described a CCAP-style agreement with Peralta Colleges that would allow cohort-based courses on campus taught either by community college instructors or by dual-employed district teachers. Ariel said the district would seek courses that match student demand; staff said a typical viable cohort size for a college-level class is roughly 20–25 students. Trustees asked about how concurrent enrollment differs from dual enrollment (concurrent is student-driven; dual enrollment is cohort-based with a local agreement) and expressed support for piloting both advanced placement and college-credit opportunities.
