Long Prairie approves paving and lights at Lake Charlotte Park pickleball courts

The Long Prairie City Council approved $36,170 to pave the parking lot east of the pickleball courts and $18,904.60 to install lights, following a request from the Long Prairie Lions. Both measures were unanimously approved at the June 11 meeting.
Greg Graves of the Long Prairie Lions asked the council for two improvements at Lake Charlotte Park: lights for the pickleball courts and paving for the parking lot to the east. "The request is for lights at the pickleball courts and to pave the parking lot to the east of the courts," Graves said during new business.
Council Member Lilah Gripne moved to approve payment to Joe Riley Construction for $36,170 to pave the parking lot and to Arc Electric for $18,904.60 to install lights; Council Member Clint Krueger seconded the motion and the council voted unanimously to approve both expenditures. The motion also included an expectation that work would be completed by the middle of the summer if passed.
The approvals follow the Lions' presentation of two quotes for each project. The council did not attach additional conditions to the payments at the meeting; the city will process payments and contracting through standard procurement and invoicing procedures.
