District highlights interventions: IXL usage, reduced IM1 classes and the 6030 model

Sanchez also noted a district decision to cap Integrated Math 1 class size at 20 to increase teacher-student contact for early high-school cohorts.
Board members asked for concrete examples to replicate. Dr. McGinnis and Sanchez described Mountain View's 60/30 model, in which teachers dedicate a consistent block of time to targeted intervention or skill work during each lesson cycle; they proposed math walk-throughs and lesson-study cycles to document effective classroom routines for other sites.
Next steps: staff will pilot math walk-throughs at classes identified with high growth and produce a tactical summary of classroom practices (e.g., 60/30 scheduling, IXL routines) for trustee review.
