Bristow trustees decline to open negotiations with Stillwater Medical Center and Ascension St. John

The Bristow Hospital Authority voted Oct. 8 to take no action on agenda item No. 5, which asked the board to consider requests from Stillwater Medical Center and Ascension St. John to enter negotiations to operate Bristow Hospital. The motion, made by Trustee Joe Church and seconded by Trustee Judd Johns, passed on a roll call vote with present trustees voting Aye.
Trustees said the decision was reached with employee and community considerations in mind. Trustee Kevin Deshazo said the choice "has not been taken lightly," and Trustee Joe Church said that workers and families were the first concern as the authority weighed operator proposals.
