Commission debates multiple Comprehensive Plan amendments; several motions fail for lack of a second

During review of the Comprehensive Plan the commission discussed edits and illustrative materials; Supervisor Sandy Schweiger asked that the plan mention the pandemic, correct the Viroqua-Westby Trail name, add green burial language to the cemetery section, and include photos such as the round barn.
Commissioner George Wilbur introduced a series of formal amendment motions: to delete Objective 1 of Land Use Element, to delete Objective 5, to revise the environmental-area definition to remove slopes greater than 30 percent and revise Map 1 accordingly, to remove 'ETZ' lines from Maps 2–5 unless areas are subject to extraterritorial zoning under sec. 62.23(7a), Wisconsin Statutes, and to delete Map 5. Each motion failed for lack of a second and therefore did not advance.
Wilbur's proposals are recorded in the minutes; commissioners did not record votes on the failed motions beyond noting they died for lack of a second. The commission will review updated changes and suggested edits at its next meeting.
