District outlines multi-pronged math strategy: more practice, coaching, tutoring and a three-year requirement

The plan includes districtwide CASP practice three times per year, instructional learning walks and math coaches to support teachers, targeted peer tutoring where paid student tutors assist classmates, and an accelerated summer pathway that lets identified high-achieving students complete a full math course over a short summer session.
The presenter reminded trustees the board already adopted a three-year math graduation requirement last year and staff said the requirement’s full impact will unfold over multiple years. "Change idea number 5 is a 3 year math graduation requirement, which the board approved last school year," the presenter said. Staff also shared two-year growth rates at several high schools and projected modest percentage gains districtwide tied to the combined interventions.
