Register of Deeds asks for similar 2026 budget; technology fund to continue imaging work

Raquel Langley, Harvey County Register of Deeds, presented the office’s proposed 2026 budgets for the Register of Deeds general fund and the Register of Deeds Technology Fund and said "The 2026 budget is similar to 2025 and no supplemental requests were made." Langley reviewed 2024 accomplishments including recertification training, risk-management and cybersecurity classes, and continued storage of records at the Hutchinson underground vaults.
Langley outlined technology priorities for 2026: importing documents into the CIC system for online viewing, indexing newly imported records, archiving tract index books and replacing select computer workstations and imaging software. The Technology Fund request includes line items for imaging software and a modest capital-outlay plan; the Technology Fund shows a requested 2026 revenue of $40,789 and proposed expenditures of $85,346 in the draft materials.
