The Dartmouth Board of Public Works voted to approve a $25,000 amendment to a professional services contract to continue monitoring Cedardale Pond/Lake under a DEP requirement. Tim, the town staff member who presented the item, said the renewal follows last year’s equipment upgrades and the coming online of nearby wells.
"The new contract or contract renewal is for 25000 dollars, for a e com," Tim said during his summary of the item. He told the board that although monitoring is required by the state Department of Environmental Protection, historical data have not shown a clear impact from the well drawdown on lake level, and that the town has drought-era data showing lake levels can also track stormwater and rainfall.
Board members asked about how many years of records the town holds; Tim and members estimated between six and 15 years of monitoring data and noted they could ask AECOM for a focused analysis of the long-term record. The board confirmed the funding source: the water division consultant services line item. The motion to approve the amendment was moved and seconded, and the board voted in favor.
The approval clears the town to continue lake monitoring this fiscal year; town staff indicated they will present future renewals as a standalone contract for the next fiscal cycle.
