Wadsworth proclaims National EMS Week, National Police Week; chiefs highlight heavy call volumes

Wadsworth Mayor Robin L. Laubaugh used the May 19 council meeting to issue proclamations recognizing National EMS Week (May 17–23, 2026) and National Police Week (May 10–16, 2026), praising emergency responders’ training and community partnerships.
Fire Chief Lindner told Council that emergency responders face unpredictable workloads and noted recent activity: “yesterday in a 24 hour period they did 16 calls and right then they were at 10 calls,” underscoring the department’s sustained demand. Police Chief Dorland added that the department logged “over 12,500 non-traffic stop calls for service last year,” listing incidents ranging from barking dogs and fender benders to fatal crashes and overdoses. Both chiefs thanked elected leaders and the public for ongoing support.
The proclamations were signed by Mayor Laubaugh and entered into the official minutes; Council and administration members in attendance publicly thanked the departments.
