Commissioner Fernando, who spoke in favor, said the county needs to "stitch together" different streams of data on roadway deaths and injuries and emphasized the goal of reducing not just deaths but injuries and collisions across modes. "I appreciate the framing and that we wanna decrease the numbers kind of across, the board," he said. A county staff member added that grant opportunities are intended to "emphasize safety in our right of way" for people walking, riding and driving. The motion to approve the item was placed on the consent bundle and approved by voice vote.
