Hennepin County approves $1.95M contract to renovate Augsburg Park Library

The Hennepin County Board voted Aug. 20 to award a construction contract to Nor Construction for the Augsburg Park Library asset protection project, with a not-to-exceed amount of $1,950,000. Facility Services described the branch as a 15,000-square-foot library in Richfield built in 1975 and said it will remain closed through spring 2025 during construction.
"This project will improve stormwater management, replace select windows, and add electric vehicle charging stations among other exterior improvements," Facility Services presenter Christie Duffy said, also listing interior updates including new carpet, paint, furniture and additional study rooms. Duffy told commissioners the project selection followed a best-value evaluation of seven proposals.
Commissioners voted to approve the immediate contract award after a brief presentation and no substantive questions. The county will proceed with procurement and project scheduling; staff did not provide a detailed construction timeline beyond the expected closure through spring 2025.
