Committee approves $25,000 match to reapply for Elevate Vernon small-business grant

Oliver said the program was oversubscribed last year (79 applications requesting more than $700,000), that a match boosts scoring, and that unused match funds would be returned if the county is not awarded the state grant. Committee members discussed administrative capacity to evaluate applications; a motion to provide the $25,000 match carried by voice vote.
"We expected to get 39 applications or 35, and we had 79 applications come in, requesting more than $700,000 in grants," Oliver said, explaining why the program needs scaling and why a match improves competitiveness. Committee members approved the $25,000 allocation to support a future $150,000 WEDC request.
