Architect details Mountain View lessons and startup issues for Piedmont's all-electric pool systems

Clarence Mamoyant, the project architect from LS Architects, walked council members through the technical startup issues the Mountain View project encountered with all-electric heating and chiller pump sequencing, and described steps the Piedmont team has taken to avoid repeating those delays.
"One of the things they ran into was they were not clear on the fact that they actually had to have the heat pump manufacturer on-site to inspect the pumps before they were even turned on," Mamoyant said, describing a scheduling gap that cost roughly a month for the contractor at Mountain View. He also said that when machines were fired up without proper disinfection procedures, chiller pump strainers became clogged and required additional cleaning, adding time to startup.
Mamoyant told the council the Mountain View system was ready in late October and that the city's operation chose to open in January for programming reasons; for Piedmont, the project team said it has the same manufacturers and practices in place and is deliberately scheduling inspections and startup steps to avoid similar delays.
