Union City council approves routine motions, hears Hometown Heroes update

Union City Borough Council’s Sept. 16 meeting included a series of routine procedural approvals and a public comment about the Hometown Heroes project. Councilors unanimously approved the agenda, the Aug. 27 minutes, the Secretary’s Report and a motion to pay unpaid bills; movers and seconders are recorded in the minutes for each motion.
Council also approved trick-or-treat hours for Thursday, Oct. 31 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. (motion by Councilor Steadman, seconded by Councilor Kerns). Council President Riley Cross said he had spoken with Lance Greer regarding the Hometown Heroes lawsuit and reported that they would not be taking money from the civil case; Bev Ballog, with Hometown Heroes, thanked the borough for its support of the project. The meeting adjourned at 6:50 p.m.; an executive session to discuss real estate, personnel and contracts ran from 6:58 p.m. to 7:42 p.m. with no action taken.
