Summary
At its March 18 meeting the Lānaʻi Planning Commission recommended denial of the joint‑use development bill and the proposed H‑3/H‑4 hotel district bill, and recommended approval of the ADU ordinance implementing Act 39 with Department amendments.
Three formal recommendations were forwarded to the Maui County Council from the March 18 Lānaʻi Planning Commission meeting. The Commission voted unanimously to recommend denial of the Council‑initiated joint‑use development bill (Resolution 25‑222) and to recommend denial of the H‑3/H‑4 hotel‑district bill (Resolution 25‑230 FD1). The Commission also voted unanimously to recommend approval of the ADU ordinance implementing State Act 39 (Resolution 25‑203) subject to the Planning Department’s 13 amendments and Commission comments about proactive departmental coordination on water, sewer and fire access.
Each vote was recorded as 5‑0 with Commissioner Michelle Fujie‑Kaauamo excused. The Commission asked staff to forward written Department comments and the Commission’s additional comments to the County Council for consideration in any Council drafting or transmittal.
