Trustees approved revisions to music curriculum for guitar and piano and approved a new data‑science course after a motion and second. Superintendent and curriculum staff presented a broader set of proposed pilot courses for first reading, including AP world history, AP African American studies as an option for students enrolling after ninth grade, a CTE fire‑technology program, and an AP business principles/personal finance pilot.
District staff emphasized that the English 9 ethnic‑studies content had been reworked to be embedded in English 9 after prior board feedback and vetting by an ethnic‑studies subcommittee consisting of board members Christy Knight and David Vincent. Trustees praised the local focus of the revised materials and asked staff to circulate links to pilot curricula ahead of the vote in May.
